Celebrate Battle Creek Waterpark’s reopening with a free admission day on Thursday
Just in time for the hottest days of summer, Ramsey County’s newly renovated Battle Creek Waterpark has reopened for children and families. To celebrate, there’s free admission on Thursday (July 9) from 11 a.m.-5 p.m. following a reopening ceremony.
Waterpark features include:
- A shallow pool with zero-depth entry and play equipment for younger children, including tipping buckets, slides and water cannons.
- A deeper pool with a three-story water slide for older kids.
- Shaded seating areas and non-water play spaces for parents and others who aren’t getting in the water.
- Playhouses and a grass area for toddlers to enjoy, with a mural by local artist Philipo Dyauli.
- Food trucks may be available in the waterpark parking lot.
A major renovation and improvement project had the 26-year-old waterpark closed all last season so Ramsey County Parks and Recreation could make extensive updates that enhance safety, increase accessibility and improve the overall visitor experience.
The project was completed without county levy funds or affecting property taxes. Instead, it was funded by a combination of dedicated state and regional funding sources that support the development and enhancement of regional park systems. They include the Metropolitan Council Grant Program for Recreation Open Space Development – Modernization, the State of Minnesota General Obligation Bond Program, Regional Park Operations and Maintenance Funds, and the Metropolitan Council Legacy Amendment Parks and Trails Fund.
The facility has reopened under its updated name, Battle Creek Waterpark, reflecting the park’s refreshed amenities and modern play features. The waterpark’s popular programming dates, including Tot Tuesdays and Autism-Friendly Hours, are available throughout the summer season.

The July 9 celebration begins at 11 a.m. with remarks from county officials. Activities and opportunities for families to enjoy the newly renovated facility will follow.
Admission is free 11 a.m.-5 p.m.

Kayak rental stations include kayaks, paddles and life jackets and are available on a first-come, first-served basis through a mobile app reservation system. Rentals are available at locations including Vadnais-Snail Regional Park, Long Lake Regional Park, Keller Regional Park and Tony Schmidt Regional Park.
