Electronics and Small Appliances Recycling

Services continue to expand at the Ramsey County Environmental Center. In addition to electronics, residents can now drop off kitchen countertop appliances and small electric items for recycling, free of charge. See the complete list of accepted items and restrictions below. 

Open to residents of Ramsey, Washington, Hennepin, Anoka, Dakota, Carver and Scott counties.​

Tuesday-Friday: 11 a.m.-6 p.m.
Saturday: 9 a.m.-4 p.m
Sunday-Monday: Closed

Closed: County holidays and Christmas Eve

Items accepted 

Televisions, computers and accessories

All data from electronics is destroyed physically or electronically wiped. 

The following items will either be refurbished and sold or recycled. Do NOT dismantle TVs or other electronics. If possible, complete a factory reset of your phone and leave it unlocked. This will allow your phone to be refurbished and sold rather than scrapped for parts. 

  • Cameras, camcorders and accessories, including chargers and memory cards.
  • Cell phones and accessories, including chargers, adapters and headphones.
  • Computers and accessories, including monitors, laptops, tablets, keyboards, mice, speakers, printers and scanners.
  • Stereo equipment and turntables.
  • Televisions and accessories, including VCRs, DVRs, Blu-ray players, gaming consoles and cable boxes. 

Kitchen countertop appliances

The following items will be disassembled and valuable parts recycled. If the item is still in working condition, donate it to a thrift store for reuse. Reuse resources and opportunities are widely available in Ramsey County. 

Remove detachable, nonelectric parts and accessories, such as ceramic pots, glass lids, coffee pots, brushes, and hoses. Plastic or nonmetal parts can go in the trash. Recycle metal parts at the Environmental Center in the scrap metal bins.  

  • Blenders.
  • Bread makers.
  • Coffee makers (remove coffee pot).
  • Dehydrators.
  • Food sealing equipment.
  • Food processors.
  • Fryers (air/deep).
  • Microwaves.
  • Mixers.
  • Pressure cookers.
  • Rice cookers.
  • Slow cookers (remove lid and ceramic pot).
  • Toasters.
  • Toaster ovens.

Small electric items

Items must weigh less than 20 pounds.

  • Cameras.
  • Carpet cleaners (remove hose attachments).
  • Clocks.
  • Electric knives.
  • Electric toothbrushes (remove brush attachment).
  • Hair dryers.
  • Hoverboards.
  • Irons (hair/clothing).
  • Massagers.
  • Portable fans.
  • Radios.
  • Remotes.
  • Shaving equipment.
  • Vacuums (remove hose attachments).
